What the 3 Day Guarantee & Activity Test Reform Means For Your Family
From January 2026, most families will be able to qualify for 3 days of subsidised childcare per week.
The main take aways are:
- From January 2026, Australian families will be guaranteed at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, or 3 days a week.
- The 3 Day Guarantee will replace the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Activity Test.
- Many families will save thousands per year under this new legislation.
The Federal Government has successfully passed legislation for the 3 Day Guarantee for early learning, ensuring every child can access vital early education opportunities.
From January, all families who are eligible for CCS will receive enough Child Care Subsidy so they can attend a minimum of 3 days per week! This is a big win for families who are looking for work, or who work casually or are studying. These families can now plan with certainty, knowing their children are taken care of.
From January of 2026, families will either have 72 or 100 hours of CCS per fortnight. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families will all have 100 hours per fortnight of CCS, meaning they can attend 4 - days per week.
By working with families to ensure they book the best sessions for their needs, we can help them make the most of the subsidised hours they have available and ensure they are paying the lowest possible out of pocket cost.
